Recommended dimensions for the mast base

Concrete foundations for masts with anchorage in the ground or on a foundation flange under optimum subgrade conditions should have approximately the dimensions given in the Annex "Concrete Foundations". To ensure that the concrete foundation is correctly specified, a check calculation should be made for the actual soil bearing capacity and also to verify that the dimensions of the mast and the concrete foundation are identical. Furthermore, the position and inclination for the cable entry into the mast and the correct position of the mast opening from the ground level must be observed. Correct design will ensure easy passage of the cable into the mast. It is recommended that a drain hole be created in the concrete foundation.
